A deeper understanding

Every individual we see for assessment or intervention is part of a family system, and has been in a relationship with caregivers and others. It is important for us to consider the early life experiences of individuals, particularly within these lenses, to develop an understanding of how safe they perceive others and how confident they are in themselves and others to meet their needs. This training focuses on ensuring we have a solid understanding of attachment styles and how they may present in the child, adolescent, parent or adult, as well as the potential impact on the therapeutic relationship and process.

Reflect and discuss

This is live CPD where you will engage deeply with the content through discussion and role play, and be encouraged to ask questions. You will be learning alongside your peers and sharing your knowledge and experiences to gain a deeper understanding of the topic.

Shannon Morley

Shannon is passionate about her work and truly enjoys collaborating with children, young people and their parents to empower them to become their best. She brings warmth, humour, compassion and a nurturing approach in order to fully understand your concerns and draw on strengths for positive outcomes. Shannon uses a psychodynamic perspective, in addition to drawing on evidenced-based interventions from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Positive Psychology, Interpersonal Therapy, Play Therapy and other modalities.

She appreciates the importance of matching the therapeutic approach to fit the needs of her clients, as none of us are cut from the same mould, so benefit from an individualised and tailored approach, sensitive to our cultural and other differences. Exploring from a systemic framework, Shannon gains a holistic view of her client, informed by themselves, their parents, school staff, and other professionals working with the child or young person. Interventions are coordinated and developed with this systemic lens in mind.
