FREE: The Sunnyboy Documentary Watch Party

7:30pm AEST Thursday 23rd October

Join the PREP cohort to watch a documentary on the journey of enigmatic Australian musician Jeremy Oxley, lead singer of Sunnyboys as he emerges from a 30-year battle with schizophrenia.

Join us from the comfort of your home with your dinner, a drink and an open mind to watch this 1.5hr documentary and then have discussion and Q&A afterwards.

Why watch this documentary?

Many psychiatric disorders have a prominent face, the celebrity with an eating disorder, the business tycoon with autism or bipolar and the countless stories of trauma.  Schizophrenia is different, because it often strikes as an age where people are making key life choices, it often debilitates and robs sufferers of the kind of future that people make moves about.

Jeremy Oxley is an exception, founder of Australian rock band the Sunnyboys. His innovative guitar and pop sensibilities saw his rise to fame, even as psychosis was affecting his life.  The Sunnyboy tells his story, and presents a touching humanity to an illness that is so often hidden behind closed doors.

You will fall in love with Jeremy and the band, gain new perspectives and empathy on schizophrenia and consolidate learning from the CPD topic on psychosis.  Hope to see you there!
