A deeper understanding

Did you know that CBT has no underlying theory? In fact CBT is underpinned by two theories that are quite different and often disagree with each other. Often CBT is trained (and delivered) as nothing more than a series of exercises and skills, but actually CBT is as rich and complex as any of the contemporary approaches to psychotherapy. Rather than dismiss the treatment with the strongest evidence base as "old fashioned", this workshop will challenge students to understand CBT and learn how to do it well.

Reflect and discuss

Participants will be encouraged to reflect on their own therapy practices in CBT as well as working through an extended case study.
