A deeper understanding
Many clients of psychologists are also prescribed psychoactive medications by our medical / psychiatric colleagues. This workshop is designed to provide a brief introduction to the most commonly prescribed psychiatric medications, their purported mechanisms of action, and the conditions for which they are prescribed. Some basic elements of pharmacology and neurochemistry are covered, as well as specific classes of medications. A workings knowledge of the fundamentals of psychopharmacology allows psychologists an insight into the practice of our medical / psychiatric colleagues, and provides information that is useful in understanding our clients in clinical/professional practice. Further, it allows us to better integrate more fully in multidisciplinary management and treatment of our clients
Reflect and discuss
This is live CPD where you will engage deeply with the content through discussion and role play, and be encouraged to ask questions. You will be learning alongside your peers and sharing your knowledge and experiences to gain a deeper understanding of the topic
